Tony Secunda, the manager, managed to make The Move the resident band at London's prestigious Marquee. Dressed as gangsters, with white shoes and ties, they created a striking image. "Never smile at the camera," was the strict order the musicians received during the photo shoots.
Musically, The Move were a force of nature on stage. Originally, their set consisted primarily of rhythm & blues covers, which gradually gave way to the fantastic compositions of Wood, a true pop master.
